Memorable Rock Master for the Italian C.A.M.P. athlete Stefano Ghisolfi, who got the 7th place in the Lead and an amazing silver medal in the unique Duel. The Duel formula is simple: the best eight climbers from Rock Master Lead compete one against the other on two identical and parallel routes. The fastest that reaches the top qualifies for the next round.
Stefano started very well, beating the strong Austrian Jacob Schubert at the end of an exciting head to head game. In the semifinal, the Italian champion sprinted upwards beating clearly Japanese Sachi Amma and the final proved a real battle: Canadian Sean McColl set off like a rocket but Ghisolfi tried not to be outdistanced. C.A.M.P. athlete even managed a comeback but then, just when he seemed poised to overtake the rival he fumbled a clip and wasted precious time. Stefano fought beautifully through the roof and overlapping wave, but in vain.
After the Rock Master Ghisolfi stayed in Arco to climb hard routes in the famous crags of the area. In Nago he made his fourth 8b on-sight (“Black Tooth Grin”) and climbed the historical “Mangusta” (8c); the next day in Massone he completed “Reini's Vibes” (8c/c+).
Concerning women Lead, the Slovenian C.A.M.P. athlete Maja Vidmar gained the 9th place. Maja is a Rock Master veteran, able to win the Lead silver medal both in 2007 and 2008.
From the competitions to our game “Guess how many” that obtained once more great success. How many meters of rope there were in the plexiglass tube? They were exactly 233.60. So the three winners of the exciting game are J.Albrecht who estimated 233.36 meters, C.Calzolari with 234.00 and M.Pandolfi with 234.06. We congratulate them: they won respectively a crash pad Domino, a Laser harness and a Roxback pack.
