The CASSIN Blade Runner crampon won the OutDoor Industry Award 2013 in Mountain climbing equipment category. C.A.M.P. is proud and happy for this prestigious achievement that highlights once again our products quality and innovation. «The Blade Runner is a revolutionary crampon – C.A.M.P. president Eddy Codega says – and this important prize confirms our R&D office high-level work».

The OutDoor Industry Award
is organized since 2006 by iF Industrie Forum Design in association with the OutDoor Friedrichshafen trade show. An authoritative jury gives this world recognized prize to high-class products that distinguish themselves by innovative design and performance. «The OutDoor Industry Award provides consumers with important orientation on a widely diverse market – organizers explain –. It provides information on which products are functional and innovative or durable and sustainable».

The Blade Runner couldn't go unobserved, representing a new era in technical ice crampons. A wealth of innovative features combine to create a crampon that conforms to the ergonomics of modern boots, increases rigidity along the entire length of the crampon without decreasing dexterity or compromising fit, adapts to alpine conditions with a variety of front points and toe bail configurations. The patented heel slide integrates the linking bar with the heel piece for better torsional rigidity. This allows the Blade Runner to offer the best of both worlds by combining the power and stability of vertical frame crampons with the precision, versatility and ease of adjustment of horizontal frame designs. The entire heel slide is constructed from proprietary Sandvik Nanoflex® steel.

In the previous editions also the Corsa Nanotech ice axe (2006), the Wing pulley (2009), the Stratos harness (2009), the Matrix Gyro Rewind via ferrata set (2010) and the Tour Nanotech Automatic crampon (2011) won the OutDoor Industry Award. So the Blade Runner is the sixth C.A.M.P. product awarded in Friedrichshafen. This success confirms C.A.M.P. worldwide leadership in ice climbing gear, highlighting our long-lasting commitment to innovation from the first modular-headed ice axe (the Hummingbird in 1972) to the introduction of the nanotechnologies in products such as Corsa Nanotech, Tour Nanotech and Blade Runner.
