C.A.M.P. company has grown from the authentic mountain culture of the village of Premana, in the Italian Alps. The ancient cobbled streets of Premana are really steep so the Premanese are a hearty people used to walk uphill, from the village to the mountain pastures and higher. In Premana, where C.A.M.P. is based, there are a lot of sky runners and ski-mountaineers that love to put themselves to the test, crossing the longest paths and ascending the mountains of the Valvarrone both in summer and in winter.
Dino Tenderini, 44, is one of them: he is a great enthusiast that enjoys daily training for the most beautiful sky races. But one year ago Dino decided to try a new challenge: the legendary Tor des Geants. He trained hard for months and started his amazing adventure on 8 September in Courmayeur, together with 705 other competitors. The Tor des Geants is more than a race: it is a symphony of personal stories, a 330 kilometers endurance trail that runs along the Alta Via 1 and Alta Via 2 of the Valle d'Aosta with an altitude range of 24,000 meters.
Dino Tenderini completed the Tor in 144 hours, 50 minutes and 40 seconds, gaining the 281th place. The Tor des Geants is really demanding and Dino was aware of this: «My goal was to finish the trail, the placement was not important» he said. «I like to run and after several skyraces I needed to try a more intense experience. The Tor scarred me deeply and my feelings changed a lot after the race. When I reached the finish I said to myself: the Tor has been a wonderful experience but I don't want to repeat it! But now I would start again with no doubt!».
Dino remembers competitors solidarity and mutual support but also his long training: he walked and ran a lot, often in the night, and experienced the real meaning of the solitude. In 2013 he covered 2,000 kilometers with an altitude range of 140,000 meters on the mountains around Premana. And sharing his realized dream with us, he revealed us that «the power is in your mind: to complete the Tor you must be sure to manage. I'm not able to describe all the emotions that I felt during the race: it is impossible to find the right words. But they are the core of the Tor des Geants, that I will remember as an incredible inner travel».
